"Expanding painting" is the title of one of the
paintings in this exhibition and also the title of
the show itself. The paint spreads outwards
from the painting, spilling over its own
boundaries to continue on a second surface.
A painted cube is joined to and rests on an
enormous canvas surface. As the paint flows
across this blank canvas, the tongues of
colour create a second painting, linking the
two superimposed canvasses. What is
interesting here is the display of a painting in
expansion. Without entering into debates
surrounding the theme of different mediums
currently used to present works of art, what
interests me is showing a precise moment of
enquiry. A moment of experimentation on a
journey to investigate the possibilities that
painting
continues to offer today.
